In a Dark, Dark WoodIn a Dark, Dark Wood by Ruth Ware

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Read:  November 13 – 16, 2016

I was so excited to read IN A DARK, DARK WOOD by RUTH WARE as I thought I would really like this one. The cover looked intriguing to me and I really liked the title but it wasn’t as exciting or well liked as other novels that I have read lately. Unfortunately, it didn’t quite meet up to my expectations. I read this one a little slower than most as I could put it down, walk away, and not even think about it until I picked it up again.

As I have mentioned before in some of my reviews I do not read the synopsis so I don’t really know what a book is actually about until I am well into the novel and then I go back and read it. It adds to the suspense and I don’t get any preconceptions of the book or characters involved but unfortunately this one was somewhat disappointing compared to what actually pulled me in to read it in the first place. I didn’t actually dislike it but found it not as compelling or suspenseful as others that I have read.

It was a little slow starting for me and I just couldn’t seem to get into it. Near the middle it did get a little more exciting but there was still no shocking moments and I was a tiny bit disappointed in the way it all played out. Don’t get me wrong though there was some good parts to it and I did need to finish it to the end!

Would I recommend? Yes, as the assortment of characters were a little strange and dysfunctional which did make it an interesting and fun read. I think this is one that you have to read for yourself to see if you love or hate it!
