I am not sure why I waited so long to read Room. My sister suggested it to me a while ago and has many times said to me that I need to read it. I am glad I finally listened to her and did.

Room is a heartbreaking and heartwarming story of a Mother who devotes much of her mental energy to teaching, entertaining and taking care of 5 year old Jack under unbearable circumstances. Creating a bond between Mother and child with hope, courage and the will to survive while trying to escape from an evil man.

The story is told to us in the language of 5 year old Jack. I really liked this perspective because as Jack was learning things we were able to see it and experience it through his innocent eyes and understand how it is perceived so differently from a more mature mind.
I really got drawn into his innocent, curious and energetic mind. I think it added a different dimension to the story to be able to see Jack’s perception of normal as the result of such a horrible crime.

I found Room to be an interesting and brilliantly written
