Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Want to Read That are Used for University Classroom Material #travelingfriendsread

ttt-big2

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.  This week’s topic is Back to School

Last year I went back with my son to University to help him get set up with his new apartment.  While looking for textbooks for him, yeah I m not only his Mom but his assistant with the credit card, I ended up spending hours looking at some novels used for classroom material and I exercised my credit card by buying a few titles.  I am going to share them with you as my Top Ten. I am embarrassed to admit I have had these titles now for a year and only read one of them so far.  So I need your help.  Which ones do you suggested I read first?

  1. I read The Joy Luck Club many years ago and loved it. You can also follow up with the film version, which, previous to the recently released Crazy, Rich Asians, was the only movie made cast entirely with people of Asian descent. Highly recommend.

I started Jane Eyre years ago and was loving it until I had to put it aside to move out of state, change jobs and get married🙂 Obviously, I got distracted but I’ve since acquired the audiobook and am desperate to start over again.

I have The Hate U Give but haven’t yet read it. It’s being released on film later this year.

Hope this is helpful! I wouldn’t recommend any of the books I got assigned my first year in collegr😝

    1. That was the only one I have read! It was a Sister Group Read. A great one to discuss. We should knock that one off your list and read it in the Friends group

  2. I’ve read several stories from The Things They Carried (also for university!) but not the whole thing. What I read of it was incredible though! I love looking at university reading lists too 🙂

  3. The Things They Carried was a fabulous Traveling Sister read, best read as a group because of the conversation it generated. Jane Eyre is an all-time favorite as is the Joy Luck Club.

Sense and Sensibility has been on my tbr forever! Shame on me.

I love that you bought all these books at the university bookstore – what a great example to your son ❤️
