My Best Day Ever at The New Calgary Central Library

Calgary opened it’s door to our new Central Library and there is only one word to describe it and it’s Spectacular!

We didn’t plan to go take it in the first few days of the opening but decided to join in on the Calgary spirit and check out one of our most anticipated openings.  I knew it was going to be busy but I didn’t think I would ever stand in line to get in a library before.  It wasn’t a long wait but definitely a lot of people.

I was pretty excited at the anticipation of seeing this dream library.  I think I stopped breathing when I walked through the doors.

Once I got to the general fiction section of the library my son started to remind me to breathe.

Then my family after this section, (who think they are funny) thought they found me the perfect book.  I have to admit I laughed.

Not really wanting to admit it but couldn’t help himself my son thought this would be a pretty amazing place to study.  He was secretly wishing he had this when he was studying.  There were study sections, tables and chairs and places to sit throughout the whole library.  No problem finding a comfortable spot to study or read.  There is a coffee shop that I forgot to take a pic of, where you can get your favourite hot beverage to enjoy while reading or studying.  I will be going back to find my comfortable spot.

I took a few photos to share.  I was so excited and there were so many people I am not sure I really captured just how spectacular this library really is.

There is so many different types of rooms available, meeting rooms, a small theater, play area for kids and rooms for author readings.

I didn’t leave empty-handed and I did leave with four library books.

What do you think from my pictures of our new library?  Do you want to come to visit this library? Drop us a comment!  We would love to hear from you!

    1. I am so glad to see that DeAnn! You will love it. There is so much to see and it really shows some history and the Calgary Spirit we are so proud of. You can really get a great feel for Calgary just by feeling it alone. And all the books alone is spectacular!!

    1. I live in inner-city Calgary so it’s not far at all. Parking can be a challenge but transit is pretty easy here. I can’t wait to go back and spend more time there.

    1. I am going to back as soon as it quiets down a bit. I will take more pics to share with you! There is a play area for the kids and plenty of places for parents to sit and read and still be able to watch them.

    1. Let’s go while they are in school and then we can take them at a different time. We can get lost and then find each other! lol

  3. What a beautiful library! I love seeing the beauty that goes into these important public institutions. I recently visited the public library in Boulder, CO and was blown away by how gorgeous and yet user-friendly it was.
