Here we are again sistering up with our Traveling Sisters Christina and Kim with another Can’t Wait Wednesday meme that is hosted by  Wishful Endings

Our Traveling Sisters Group Read for Watching You by Lisa Jewell is fast approaching and we can’t wait to read it.  Lisa Jewell is another favorite author of mine.  After reading I Found You I was hooked and knew I had to read more of her books.   I have read most of her books in our group and she is a favorite author for a few of us.  Every time I see a new book out by her I do that cheering thing we love to do.

Kim over at It’s All About The Thrill  and Christina at Recipe and a Read have not read any books by Lisa Jewell and I knew I had to correct that.  Pop on over and check out what the have to say about that.  There is just something so exciting about reading a book with sisters who are reading a book by an author for the first time.

So on to the book and the cheering.

 

 


Watching You by Lisa Jewell
Melville Heights is one of the nicest neighbourhoods in Bristol, England; home to doctors and lawyers and old-money academics. It’s not the sort of place where people are brutally murdered in their own kitchens. But it is the sort of place where everyone has a secret. And everyone is watching you.

As the headmaster credited with turning around the local school, Tom Fitzwilliam is beloved by one and all—including Joey Mullen, his new neighbor, who quickly develops an intense infatuation with this thoroughly charming yet unavailable man. Joey thinks her crush is a secret, but Tom’s teenaged son Freddie—a prodigy with aspirations of becoming a spy for MI5—excels in observing people and has witnessed Joey behaving strangely around his father.

One of Tom’s students, Jenna Tripp, also lives on the same street, and she’s not convinced her teacher is as squeaky clean as he seems. For one thing, he has taken a particular liking to her best friend and fellow classmate, and Jenna’s mother—whose mental health has admittedly been deteriorating in recent years—is convinced that Mr. Fitzwilliam is stalking her.

Meanwhile, twenty years earlier, a schoolgirl writes in her diary, charting her doomed obsession with a handsome young English teacher named Mr. Fitzwilliam

  4. The first book of Lisa Jewell’s that I ever read was The Girls in the Garden which I highly recommend if you haven’t read it already. I gave it 5 stars whereas I gave I Found You 4 stars. I’m on the wait list at the library for Then She Was Gone … I think I’m about 30th on a list of I don’t know how many so I expect it’ll be next year before I get to read Watching You (unless I get it for Christmas of course). I love her books and recommend them to everyone.

    1. The Girls in the Garden was the second book I read. I really enjoyed that one too!! I am so glad to see you love her books and recommend them. I hope Watching You ends up under your tree. Books make the best presents.

  5. I discovered Lisa Jewell a couple years ago and have really enjoyed her books. This one was not my favorite, though. The atmosphere wasn’t as creepy as I thought it would be. I also have a weird thing with this particular book. The synopsis of the version I had marked on Good Reads was WRONG. Like it specifically stated which character died and where and it wasn’t accurate at all. I didn’t realize that that must have been an early synopsis that was never removed and I was, like, enraged about it until I found out every other version and site had the real synopsis. But by then, I had already finished the book and was kind of ticked off, so I’m not sure I can be super objectionable about this.

  8. I had the opportunity to read an ARC of Watching You. All I can say is…. WOW. It has so many themes, interesting characters, and twists & turns. I was led down a path and then surprised many times. I really liked it! I can’t wait for your review.
